JV Volleyball Updates

JV Volleyball Sweeps Summerland

On September 29, the Summerland Bobcats were in town for some JV action.  The match was a best 3 out of 6 sets.  The first set was an even battle, with the teams trading points most of the set.  Sets 2 and 3 were handled more by the Spartans, as they capped off the sweep.  Set scores were 25-23, 25-21 and 25-14.  Overall, the Spartans served tough on the night, keeping the Bobcats out of system.  Earning service points were Bentley Adams 7 with 3 aces, Leah Jockens with 8 points, and earning 7 points each were Paige Drueke (3 aces), Lanie Lechtenberg and Natalie Hausmann.  Offensively, Paige had 13 set assists, with top hitters of Bentley with 6 kills, Leah 6, and Hannah Widstrom 4. 

 

JV/C Volleyball Vs Burke

The Spartans hosted Burke on October 1.  Both JV and C teams would gain some court time.  The JV squad was plagued by 6 missed serves in the first set, but squeaked out the win 27-25.  During set 2, Boyd County stepped up their play and won 25-18.  Paige Drueke served up 7 aces while recording 11 service points and Mercedes Brooks was credited with 6 points and 4 aces.  Leah Jockens led in kills with 6 and Bentley Adams added 2.  Paige had 8 set assists. 

The Spartan C team also earned two wins on the night, 25-18 and 25-20.  Several girls served tough and earned aces from behind the line.  Mercedes Brooks recorded 15 points and 6 aces, Amelia Hakl had 10 points with 4 aces and Brynn Almgren had 8 points with 2 aces.  No other stats were available.

 

JV Volleyball Triangular @ Bassett

On October 5, Boyd County traveled to Bassett for a JV triangular.  The first match vs North Central went 3 sets.  The Spartans came out slow in set one,  struggled to play their game and lost 18-25.  Set two was a tight battle with BC coming out on top in extra points, 29-27.  Set three was all Spartans from the beginning, winning 25-13.  Paige Drueke served well including an 8- and 9-point serving run in sets 2 and 3 respectively, scoring 22 points total with 8 aces.  Lanie Lechtenberg had 7 points with 1 ace and Leah Jockens earned 6 points with 2 aces. 

The second match was against Ainsworth.  The Spartans struggled with serve receive from the beginning and couldn't get the offense going.  The girls suffered a two-set loss 17-25 and 12-25.  Bentley Adams led in service points with 3 and 1 ace. 

 

JV/C Volleyball Goes 1-1 vs Elkhorn Valley

On October 8th, Boyd County traveled to Tilden for a full night of volleyball.  Both matches would be best 2 out of 3 sets.  The C team has showed some strong improvement lately in their play.  Teamwork, hustle, and playing their roles has been evident in their recent matches.  The Spartans came out strong in set one behind some tough serving by Kaylee Bennett who reeled off 9 straight service points.  Boyd County rolled to victory 25-12.  Elkhorn Valley fought back in set two and it was a close battle throughout, but the Falcons came out on top 21-25.  Set three was tight, but after a timeout at 9-8, BC was able to side out a few times and grab the win, 15-11.  Offensively, Mercedes Brooks had 7 set assists followed by Brynn Almgren with 3.  Attacking was led by Mckenzie Snyder with 6 kills and Sabrina Ziebro added 2.  Kaylee finished with 13 service points and 3 aces and Mercedes added 10 points and 3 aces. 

The JV Spartans started strong from the start with tough serving by Paige Drueke.  Boyd County was up 10-1, but Elkhorn Valley slowly chipped away at the lead and tied it at 19-19.  The Spartans weren't able to finish and lost 23-25.  Set two was all Elkhorn Valley from the start.  Spartans got down and weren't able to mount a comeback, losing 16-25.  Paige earned 12 service points with 2 aces followed by Leah Jockens with 5 points.  Paige recorded 11 set assists for the match.  Attacking was led by Leah with 4 kills, Bentley Adams and Lanie Lechtenberg each had 3.  Leah also had 2 blocks for the match.
