The volleyball team traveled to Bonesteel, S.D. on October 3rd to take on the Burke Cougars.  Burke always competes and this night was no exception.  Boyd County struggled early on in both sets, but rallied late forcing Burke to step up their game, but the deficits were too great to overcome.  Spartans lost 0-2, 21-25 and 20-25.  Spartans only had 2 aces (Amelia Hoffman) to 6 total for Burke.  Rylie registered 4 assists on the night with Haylie adding 2 and Kiryn 1. Kiryn led the way offensively with 5 kills on the night, Amelia added 4 and Leah 2.  Boyd County was busy digging up balls, Rylie recorded 9 digs with Kiryn and Amelia adding 4 and Haylie 3.

North Central JV Tri

On October 7th JV volleyball traveled to Springview.  The first match was against the host team.   The Spartans served tough and kept the young Knights from setting up their offense.  Boyd County cruised to a 2 set victory, 25-14 and 25-13.  Amelia Hoffman recorded two aces and Rylie Haun and Samantha Heiser each had one.  Rylie Haun dished out 11 set assists with Haylie Carson adding 2.  Jenny Goesch was credited with 5 digs and Rylie 3.  Our hitters were all swinging hard with many recording kills: Bentley Adams 5, Haylie 4, Amelia Hoffman 3, Leah Jockens and Kiryn Kayl 2 each and Jenny with one back row kill.

Match two was against Ainsworth.  The Bulldogs would prove to be more of a challenge.  Boyd County split 1 set each, and forced a 3rd where Ainsworth would prevail and win the match.  Set 1 was a close battle for the duration.  Tied at 23-23 the Spartans weren't able to find the floor and lost 23-25.  The second set was all Spartans.  Leading 15-9 midway behind some tough serving, they never looked back.  Boyd County won 25-17.   The Spartans weren't able to ride the momentum into the 3rd set, where it was a battle.  Ainsworth really stepped up their defense on our attacks and able to come out on top of some long rallies.   Ainsworth won the set 21-25 taking the match 1-2.  Rylie had 12 set assist with Haylie adding 5.  Bentley played tough at the net earning 11 kills.  Other offensive leaders were Haylie with 5 kills, Amelia 4, Kiryn 3, Leah 2 and Nevaeh Jockens 1 kill.  Leah and Kiryn were also credited with one ace block each.  With about 2.5 weeks left in the regular season, the Spartan JV team is 5-3.
