JV Volleyball Travels to Springview

September 30, 2020

The Lady Spartans traveled to Springview on September 28th to battle the Knights.  Both Junior Varsity and C squads grabbed some court time. 

The JV team played with intensity throughout, keeping it a close battle in both sets.  The Spartans suffered two set losses 21-25 and 25-27.  Leah Jockens had a good night at the net recording 5 kills and 3 solo blocks.  Lanie Lechtenberg chipped in 2 kills and 4 digs defensively.  Natalie Hausmann, playing libero, earned 8 digs.  Offensively, Paige Drueke recorded 8 set assists.   Mercedes Brooks found success behind the service line earning 7 points with 3 aces, Bentley Adams had 5 service points with 3 aces and Lanie was credited with 5 points and 2 aces.

The C team was able to play a couple sets of their own.  Confidence continues to build as the season progresses.  The first set was a back and forth battle throughout.  In set two, the Spartans struggled behind the service line with no many errors.  Boyd County lost two sets 21-25 and 14-25.  Earning service points were Lanie Lechtenberg with 5 and Merdeces Brooks with 4.  Offensively, Hannah Widstrom had 3 kills and chipping in 1 each were Kaylee Bennett and Nevaeh Jockens.  Brynn Almgren had 3 set assists for the match while Mercedes had 2.   On the defensive side, Amelia Hakl and Lanie both recorded 4 digs.
