Boyd County Spartans vs. Stuart Broncos

On Friday, September 6th, the Boyd County Spartans traveled to Stuart to take on the Broncos. In the first quarter both teams traded touchdown passes of 40+ yards each. The Spartans score came courtesy of a Kannin Ellwanger to Colby Hansen connection of 41 yards. 

After that the Spartans became their own worst enemy. With 9 total penalties on the night against the visitors, 3 of them had called back a touchdown play, while the others halted some big momentum plays. The Spartans scored on the last play of the game by a scamper play by Kannin Ellwanger. The final score read Stuart: 30-Boyd County 14.

Kannin Ellwanger led the Spartans on offense, defense, and special teams. He accounted for 152 yards rushing with 1 touchdown. 59 yards passing with 1 touchdown. And had 100 return yards from kickoffs, he also had 12 tackles with 3 coming behind the line of scrimmage. Colby Hansen had 48 yards receiving with 1 touchdown. Cory Koenig had 1 interception and Kolt Boettcher had 2 tackles for loss. 

The Spartans will look forward to playing their first home game Friday September 13th, at 2:00 PM against Madison.
