2026 Boyd County Cross Country Meet

On Thursday, September 10, 2026 the Boyd County Cross Country team hosted their home meet at the Butte Golf Course. The meet got underway starting with the varsity girls race. Senior Kaci Koenig led the Lady Spartans to the chute finishing in 6th place with a time of 24:32. Freshman Savannah Zeisler earned a medal placing 8th with a time of 26:50. Fellow freshman Trina Bennett also earned a medal. She placed 14th with a time of 28:45. Addi Janousek, senior, placed 15th, earning herself a medal as well, with a time of 29:44. Freshman Corinna Reiser placed 17th with a time of 37:41. In the team competition there was a three way tie between Boyd County, West Holt, and Niobrara Verdigre. All three teams managed to score 15 points with their top three runners. Boyd County ultimately won the meet because they were the only team with a pusher, the 4th runner, who is the tie breaker. Congratulations to the Lady Spartans!
Next on the course was the boys varsity. Junior Aidyn Garwood ran a strong race. Garwood placed 4th overall with a time of 19:53. Next through the chute for the Spartans was sophomore Hayden Warnke. Warnke raced in grabbing 9th place with a time of 20:03. Freshman Case Reiman earned another medal on the season. Reiman placed 14th with a time of 20:44. The Spartans placed 2nd in team points behind a talented Creighton Bulldog team. The Spartans will face the Bulldogs again throughout the season, but the Spartans are also already focusing on district competition where they will compete against Creighton for a chance to go to state.
The junior high were next on the course. 8th grader Baleigh Koenig won the 2500 meter race for the second year in a row! B. Koenig ran a time of 11:02. 7th grader Raina Hammon earned her first medal of the season. Hammon placed 9th with a time of 13:05. Krya Reiser, 7th grade, placed 12th with a time of 14:27. On the junior high boys side, 8th grader Gage Schochenmaier placed 5th with a time of 10:40. 7th grader Asher Bruggeman placed 11th with a time of 11:30.
The Boyd County Cross Country team would like to thank everyone who helped put on the meet. We appreciate you taking the time to help make this a successful event. We would also like to thank all the fans who came out to watch. The runners noticed and commented on how nice it was to see so many fans on the course. The Spartans will compete next in Tyndall, SD on Monday, September 21st with a 2pm start time. The meet will have varsity, JV, and junior high divisions.
