Zeisler and Koenig Head to State XC

Thursday, October 15th the Boyd County Cross Country team loaded the bus for a trip back to Ainsworth to compete in the District D4 Cross Country Championships.  Top 15 individuals and top three teams qualify for the state meet.  For the Lady Spartans, sophomore Natasha Zeisler earned her second trip to the state meet placing 12th with a 21:35 time.  Zeisler competed well her freshman year at the state meet finishing just out of the medals.  Senior Isaac Koenig also punched his second ticket to the state meet. Koenig competed with the boys team his freshman season.  This season he earned an individual spot placing 12th with an 18:25 time.

The rest of the Spartans had a fantastic meet as well.  Senior Jenny Goesch finished 36th in 25:24.  Andrea Hipke, senior, placed 40th in 25:44, and fellow senior Kaci Mashino placed 46th in 26:40.  Freshman Zoe Kaczor came across the line in 54th position with a 29:10 time.  The team finished 6th.  All these ladies ran smart, competitive races and improved their times from the Ainsworth Invite meet at the beginning of the season.  Congratulations on an excellent season ladies!!

All the Spartan men also improved their times on the Ainsworth course.  Senior Kaesin Ellwanger ran 20:12 for 33rd place.  Brayden Almgren, senior, placed 55th in 21:24.  Freshman Nathan Koenig crossed the line in 60th with a 21:51 time.  And sophomore Kaleb Kaczor rounded out the team placing 71st in 26:21. The boys teams placed 10th over all.  Congratulations gentlemen on a great season!!!

Next stop is the state meet for Isaac Koenig and Natasha Zeilser.  Zeilser will run at 12:00PM and Koenig at 1:00PM at the golf course in Kearney Friday, Oct. 23rd.  Congratulations once again on earning a trip to the state meet!!!
