Two Boyd County Runners Qualify for State

October 16, 2022

On an extremely windy Thursday, October 13, 2022 the Boyd County Cross Country team headed west to Ainsworth to compete in the D4 district meet.  Top 15 individuals and top three teams would punch their ticket to the state meet to be held in Kearney on Friday, October 21.

Boyd County is sending two runners to state.  Will Nelson, freshman, placed 8th with an 18:43 time.  Senior Natasha Zeisler is headed to state for the fourth time in her high school career.  Zeisler also placed 8th with a 22:34 time.

Overall the Spartan team improved times on the Ainsworth course and competed hard, proving that the weather conditions wouldn't hold them back.  Jada Harmon, freshman, placed 28th with a 25:14 time.  This time is a little over two minutes faster than her time at the beginning of September on the Ainsworth course!  Ethan Zeisler, freshman, placed 24th in 20:04.  Freshman Brook Strom improved his time on the course by almost 20 seconds finishing 31st with a 20:29.  Sophomore Grant McGill improved almost two minutes.  He placed 41st with a 21:13 time.  Issac Jensen, freshman, took over a minute off his course time racing in at 53rd with a 22:23 time.

Congratulations to the Spartan runners on an excellent season!  Good luck to Natasha and Will.  Will competes at noon on Friday, October 21.  Natasha runs at 1:00PM.
