BC Hosts XC Meet

September 14, 2021

On Thursday, Sept. 9, 2021 the Spartan Cross Country Team did not have to travel very far to compete as Boyd County held its invitational at the Butte Golf Course.  Just under 100 runners from seven schools showed up to compete.

Girls varsity runners were the first to compete on the 5K course.  Junior Natasha Zeisler competed for the first time this season.  Natasha finished in the medals in 7th place with a 23:32 time.  Zoe Kaczor, sophomore, completed the course in 32:24 finishing in 21st.

Nathan Koenig, sophomore, finished in the medals in the boys race.  Koenig brought home the 15th place medal with a 20:27 time.  Freshman Grant McGill ran well finishing in 20th with a time of 22:01.  Evan Hammon, also a freshman, finished 23rd with a 22:50 time.  Junior Kaleb Kaczor rounded out the Spartan runners placing 27th with a 28:32 time.

In the junior high girls division 8th grader ReNae Kluckman just missed her first medal of the season placing 11th overall with a 10:47 on the 2500 meter course.  7th graders Kaci Koenig and Addi Janousek finished 17th with a 11:41 time and 22nd with a 12:57 time respectively.

The junior high boys had an unofficial team win as points for JH races are not officially calculated.  Will Nelson, 8th grader, won the division in a time of 9:20.  Finishing just nine seconds behind Nelson was Ethan Zeisler, also an 8th grader, with a 9:29 second place finish.  Another 8th grade teammate, Brook Strom, ran through the chute with a 9:51 time earning him the 4th place finish.  Alex Lechtenberg, also an 8th grader, finished in 12th place with a 13:48 time.

Congratulations to all the Spartan runners.  The Spartan Cross Country Team and their coaches, Liz Johnson and Kimberly Zeisler, would like to thank everyone who came out to help run the meet.  It is because of our Boyd County staff and community members that our meet runs as smoothly as it does.  We appreciate your support!  The Spartans tighten up the laces again on Monday, September 20th at the Bon Homme Country Club in Tyndall, SD.
