2019 FBLA State Leadership Conference

Nineteen Boyd County FBLA members attended the 2019 State Leadership Conference held in Omaha on April 4-6.  The opening session was held on Thursday afternoon, with keynote speaker Holly Hoffman encouraging members to “Create, Lead, and Inspire” within their FBLA chapters. Chapter officers were recognized for earning their All-State Quality Member Awards. Sydney Atkinson, Elsie Magwire and Joseph Hiatt received their Member of the Month certificates.  The Boyd County chapter was presented with two awards at Thursday’s session: Sweepstakes and Gold Seal Award of Merit.

On Friday, students participated in several competitions and attended various seminars.  Seminar topics included “How to Land Your First Internship”, “How to NOT Faint When Speaking in Public”, and “Maximize Your SLC Experience.”  Friday evening, the second general session was held. Joseph Hiatt was a Who’s Who in Nebraska FBLA recipient, and Sydney Atkinson received the Outstanding Reporter Award. The honorable mention awards were announced at Friday’s session.

Saturday morning was the Awards of Excellence Program.  Elsie Magwire, Kiryn Kayl, Joshua Kersch, and Kaci Mashino earned their Leader pins, as they fulfilled the requirements of the third level of the Business Achievement Awards.  Seven members qualified for the National Leadership Conference in San Antonio, Texas this summer.

Serving as voting delegates from Boyd County were Heather Atkinson, Brayden Almgren, Lauryn Hoffman, Amelia Hoffman, and Paige Drueke. Accompanying the chapter were Mrs. Kari Boettcher, FBLA adviser and Mrs. Melanie Black, chaperone.  Below are the results from the 2019 State Leadership Conference (NQ denotes National Qualifier):
