This year the Boyd County Student Senate decided to take on an issue that we are seeing more and more of across the Niobrara Valley Conference, and surrounding areas – suicide among our students. This is never an easy topic to talk about with family members or even among friends. We decided we wanted to spread some information to help students in our conference find a way to talk about suicide if you are struggling, or if you suspect that someone else is. Our hope is to inform students how to help themselves or a friend through the pain so they can see the beauty that remains.

The BC Student Senate members put together almost 1700 care bags to pass out to all 7th through 12th grade students in the Niobrara Valley Conference. In the care bags the students will find a brochure we made full of information and resources that can help students talk about this sensitive subject; a stress ball sporting the 988 Suicide Hotline number; and a locker magnet with a QR code that will take them to more resources. Every NVC school is also receiving laminated signs to distribute throughout the school however it is seen fit to do so.

Please support this important cause by purchasing a T-shirt, sweatshirt, or hoodie to help spread our message - Pain Passes, Beauty Remains. The shirts are available in adult and youth sizes, and in multiple colors. All proceeds will be donated to the Richard Young Outpatient Psychiatric Clinic in Kearney, NE. Richard Young strives to provide the best behavioral healthcare and healing in a community atmosphere where patients can begin to learn to successfully cope with life’s demands and responsibilities. It is their goal to offer hope through recovery.

ONCE THE ONLINE STORE IS CLOSED, ALL ORDERS WILL BE PRINTED AND SENT TO BOYD COUNTY SCHOOLS (SPENCER) FOR DISTRIBUTION.

ORDERS ARE DUE FEBRUARY 26th, 2023.

No late orders will be accepted.
