Boyd County XC Meet Results

September 14, 2020

The Boyd County Home Cross Country Meet was held at the Butte Golf Course on Friday, September 11.  Weather conditions were near perfect for hosting and running a meet.

The races started with the girls’ varsity race.  For the Lady Spartans, sophomore Natasha Zeisler crossed the line in 6th position with a 24:16 time earning her a medal.  New to the sport of XC, senior Jenny Goesch placed 16th with a 27:29 time.  Seniors Andrea Hipke and Kaci Mashino finished 20th in 28:46 and 21st in 30:00 respectively.  Freshman Zoe Kaczor rounded out the girls varsity team crossing the line in 31:25 for the 23rd place.  The Lady Spartans team placed 4th.  North Central’s Lady Knights took home the team 1st place plaque with only 9 points.  West Holt Lady Huskies finished 2nd as a team with 19 points.  Summerland Lady Bobcats had 24 points for the 3rd place in team standing, and the Niobrara-Verdigre Lady Cougars finished 5th with 42 points.

Boys’ varsity raced next.  Senior Isaac Koenig led the Spartans grabbing the 7th place medal with a 20:20 time.  Senior Kasein Ellwanger also brought home some hardware with his 12th place finish in 21:37.  Brayden Almgren, also a fellow senior, finished 16th with a 22:08 time.  Freshman Nathan Koenig cruised through with a time of 23:08 and in the 23rd position.  Rounding out the Spartan varsity boys was sophomore Kaleb Kaczor with a 31st place in 31:24.  In the team standing the West Holt Huskies took home the 1st place plaque with 15 points.  The Neligh-Oakdale Warriors ran in for 2nd place in the team standings with 21 points.  Boyd County ended up in a three-way tie for 3rd place as a team with Summerland and North Central.  Using tie breaking rules, Boyd County Spartans pulled out the 3rd place team with 31 points thanks to their pusher Nathan Koenig.  The Summerland Bobcats also had a pusher but ended with 4th place with 31 points, and the Knights from North Central finished in 5th place with 31 points.

Junior high girls were next to lace up their shoes and take off around the course.  Ava Hoffman 7th grader from West Holt, took the lead and never looked back. Ava finished the course in 10:53.  For the Lady Spartans, 7th grader ReNae Kluckman earned her first medal coming in 9th place with a 12:52 time.  Fellow 7th grader Jada Harmon finished in 17th place with a 15:08 time.  Michaela Roth, 8th grade, rounded out the girls in 18th place with a 15:35 time.

Luke Ludwig of Stuart took home the championship medal with a 10:35 time.  Boyd County 7th graders Ethan Zeisler and Brook Strom also took home some hardware. Zeisler finished in 7th with 11:23 and Strom in 10th with 12:08 on the clock.  Alex Lechtenberg, also a 7th grader, competed well and came through the finish in 16th place in 17:55.

The Boyd County cross country team and coaches would like to thank everyone who came to help with our meet.  It’s truly because of all your hard work and dedication to our sport that we are able to run a successful meet each year.  Fans from the community and from other schools as well as our Lady Spartan volleyball team and Spartan football team, thank you for coming out to cheer us along!  We appreciate your support.  Lastly we want to thank KC Roadrunner’s for pulling off many, many pizzas for our meal after the meet.
