Busy Week for BC Golfers

May 02, 2022

The Boyd County High School golfers had a busy week.  The team went to the Osmond Invite on Saturday, the 23 of April only to be finished after 2 holes because of 50 mph gust of wind. This meant playing in a dust storm with miserable, dangerous, and not very fun conditions.

The golf team of Timothy Atkinson, Zander Kluckman, Leah Jockens, Kyra Gonzales and Derris Hansen placed 5th as a team, leaving them one stroke out of 4th place at the Niobrara Valley Conference meet on Tuesday the 26th. Individual placings are as follows:

  • Timothy Atkinson placed 5th with an 41-47/88.
  • Zander Kluckman tied for 14th with a44-49/ 93
  • Derris Hansen 51-43/94
  • Leah Jockens 54-56/110.

The team shot a 385 team total which was a 71 stroke improvement by these same golfers over last year.  Their hard work over the summer has definitely paid off. The team also had 3 JV golfers who played: Brynn Almgren, Kaleb Kaczor and Evan Hammon.

Boyd County returned to Osmond on Wednesday and the weather was much better.  Timothy Atkinson shot a 41-45 and placed 7th.  The team struggled a bit and shot a 411.  The season has 4 meets left before districts May 16th.
